Everyday I wake up so happy and grateful that my job is my biggest passion - travel and sharing stories 😊 along with @georgiarickard and @laurenepbath, two amazing badass travelers, two years ago we built our own conference to teach other people how build the life they’ve always dreamed of too, and the @thetravelbootcamp was born ❤️ for one day only we share all of our knowledge, stories, key facts and takeaways from years and years of experience working in the travel industry with you all, no BS. We are candid; honest and raw - our next event is on the Gold Coast in June 30 and we still have early bird tickets left that end this weekend. This is my face after reading through every single reply and message from you all in response to my post from yesterday 😄 coincidentally, this is also my penguin face, both things which make me feel incredible, uncontrollable joy 🐧 Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I’m now more convinced than ever about my commitment to being a responsible blogger with the things I share and working as hard as I can to inspire sustainable travel to you all ❤️ we are very lucky to have such an incredible planet, and it’s time to give back and make sure it stays that way for everyone who wants to experience the world too. On another note, this photo comes from my recent trip to the ends of the earth, Antarctica, with @intrepidtravel ❄️ I am very proud to be aligned with such a mindful, responsible business, who is also deeply committed to sustainable tourism and has been carbon neutral for 8 years, was the first global tour operator to end elephant rides and does a myriad of other great things like investing in local communities and wildlife conservation projects. 📷 @jarradseng

Yesterday I did something scary and finally stood up and took a public stand on something that means a lot to me - protecting our community and beautiful natural spaces in New Zealand, particularly in Wanaka where I live, both around freedom camping and camping on our iconic Roys Peak 😬 I hesitated for so long about how to talk about this because my job is literally telling people to travel and come to New Zealand, but I realized I wasn't standing up for my values - all I care about is protecting my adopted country and inspiring the right people with the right behavior to come here, and teaching people respectful ways to travel. Pitching a tent on New Zealand's most popular day walk is rude. Camping in front of people's houses in your car and shitting everywhere is rude. Doing your dishes on the lakefront is rude. This kind of disrespectful behavior has no place here. Knock. It. Off. 🙌🏻 And I think its high time influencers who write about these places, who share these perfect photos (me included) think about their responsibilities and the messages they are sending to their followers, and what kind of behaviors they are encouraging. I'm copping so much shit for saying all this, and getting so much hate but I don't care. It’s about time someone took a stand on this, might as well be me, eh? 🌿 New Zealand has some of the best nature on earth, let's keep it that way. Share it with respect. Come but be mindful. ✨ Whatungarongaro te tangata toitū te whenua // As man disappears from sight, the land remains. 😊 More on my Stories ✌🏻

When I think about Antarctica, this is what I remember. I loved the absolute silence on an overcast day, with only the wind howling to remind you of sound before the ship crunches though the thin ice. I can’t even imagine negotiating these waters like Shackleton and the great polar explorers of a century ago did. What legends @antarcticheritage

Today I’m taking over the @antarcticheritage Instagram page and sharing some of my favorite memories, stories and moments from exploring South Georgia at the end of the world. I’m so excited to tell you about this place, which quickly became my favorite spot on earth - be sure to follow along today to learn more about the heroic explorers, penguins, icebergs and even whalers (yikes) ❄️🐧✌🏻

Five years ago today I walked into my boss’ office outside DC and resigned from my cushy corporate job to travel and blog full time. Five years ago I silently cried in my cubicle wondering if I just made the biggest mistake of my life. Five years ago I made the choice to ignore everyone who told me I was crazy. Five years ago I booked a one-way flight to New Zealand. Five years ago I had no idea what I was getting myself into. So proud of my 24 year-old self for believing that I could make this dream a reality and to take that enormous leap of faith into the unknown with no certainty of success. And wow, hot damn, what a good five years. Still blogging, still passionate about travel, still learning, and so so so grateful for all insane opportunities and all the amazing souls who’ve come into my life since that choice to say “I quit.” Check out my Stories where I link to the blog post I wrote five years ago today. What a wild ride ✌🏻

One of my favorite things about being by the sea, especially in tropical places, is when the day wraps up and the sun begins to sink beyond a hazy horizon over the ocean. If you’re lucky, it becomes magnified and looks huge, a perfect golden orb to finish the day 🔥 @ritzcarlton

The Thean Hou Temple is a stunning Chinese temple that is a definite must-visit on any trip to Kuala Lumpur. What I really loved about Malaysia was learning about its complete melting pot of cultures, languages and religions. About a quarter of the population is Chinese, who’ve maintained their heritage there. It was about a million degrees, incredibly humid, and midday as we wandered around this stunning temple, and my pervading memory is a mix between awe (never really seeing anything like this before) and shock that the back of my legs could sweat so much - who knew? Ah Southeast Asia, I miss your warmth already! 🔥 @ritzcarlton

In an idealized Instagram world filled with adorable fluffy animals that you just want to cuddle (at least my feed is), you have to appreciate a cute creature who chooses evil and to be up to no good 🙈 though as far as monkeys go, these ones seem pretty endearing. Have any good monkey stories to share from your travels? 🐒 @ritzcarlton

Every morning in Langkawi I would wake up before sunrise (not very like me - yay jetlag), slide open my glass doors and step outside on my deck (seriously, how amazing is this place?) at my rainforest villa in Malaysia. I’d sit on the chairs by my private pool (!!!) with a cup of coffee and watch the sky lighten as the same family of monkeys would jump from tree to tree and a pair of hornbills would pretend not to notice me. The birdsong was glorious, the warm air smelled tropical and earthy, and it was always a great moment of calm and joy for me before starting the day. The last morning, I put on a dress instead of my baggy pjs to take a shot to remind myself of these memories in the hopes that it might trick me into become a morning person once I’m home @ritzcarlton
