I entered a spokemodel contest before I even had a Facebook account and won it out in that January. This was only step one though! This represents the START of the grind. Big break? Yes. But it is only now in 2018 where I finally feel "successful" in fitness and doing what I love. If you asked my advice I would tell you that there are no shortcuts worth taking. I experienced 15 years as a full time plumber before I attempted fitness full time in 2012, two years after this picture. Think about that... I was out digging ditches, cleaning out sewers, and crawling in crawl spaces before "grind" was even a hashtag. It wasn't until 29 that I even thought of a career in fitness. Whatever you are doing today, do it better than everyone else. Step one leads to step two, and there is no step 4 without step 3, so PUT IN THE WORK!!!! Also, social media is a lie. Ya I said it. You want truth, then start real conversations in the gym about real life with a REAL PERSON. You see pictures that are taken 20 times and retouched for 20 minutes here, with an awesome quote or story to try to get you to buy in to an idea or a like. That's not real. Real is raw. Real is messy. Real takes WORK. Real is the good the bad and the ugly. So I almost posted this pic and said something like "wow, I entered I won, and my life changed " but then I caught myself in a lie. Huh. That isn't true. I have STRUGGLED FOR YEARS ON THIS GRIND. And it is only now that everything I have done, 8 years later (+15 years plumbing), finally is making sense. So put your head down, don't complain, and work!!

Cable drag biceps curl. At this angle pulling the elbows forward from the start pulls more of the total biceps into this awesome isolation move. Progressive overload today, 4 X 12. Give these a shot, shirt is optional. @dailyburn

Wide neutral grip lat pull downs. The way I roll with these is fully extending the arms, letting the shoulders go with it. Then on the initiation of the pull, lead with retracting the shoulders first, then let the elbows follow. Pull down to top of chest and squeeze the lats! Back and chest today!!

Notice the pause and the pull back in the bottom. This pulls the top of the chest in, and the downward pulls the major! Try it with moderate to slightly heavy weight. Make em dance!!!

There was a little Tabasco sauce on this one! When you only have 15 min, you GRIND!! 50 - Chest to bar pull ups. Every minute on the minute perform 5 burpees Then 50 - Thrusters @95 lbs. Every minute on the minute perform 5 bar over burpees. My time was under 11:00

I had 10 minutes to get a workout in, limited on what I can do because of hand, still got one in. Gym was HOPPIN TONIGHT!!! ALL KINDS OF GAINZ GETTIN HAD!!! 1 - deficit HSPU 1 - strict pull up 10- GHD SIT UPS Then 2 - deficit HSPU 2 - STRICT PULL UPS 9 - GHD SIT UPS THEN 3-3-8 4-4-7 5-5-6 6-6-5 7-7-4 8-8-3 9-9-2 10-10-1

SNAP! Very humbling to find out I have carpal tunnel today. My left hand has been numb and I have been experiencing pain and loss of grip not sleeping well too. Can't do a lot of movements lifting wise with it, but I am grateful that it is not something worse. Just a set back, that's all. Next steps from here I will find out, but excited to identify it and move forward. God is good all the time. It's just gonna be sad to watch my left arm get jealous of my right if I have surgery. Right arm is still gonna devour those gainz.
