Hi everyone! Good news today that we'd love your help spreading: @obamafoundation just announced the very first class of Obama Fellows. They're 20 amazing people from 11 different countries who are already civic innovators in their communities, from growing voter turnout in Mali to building community-based approaches to the opioid crisis. Over the next two years, they’ll work with the foundation and collaborate with each other to expand and scale their work. You can congratulate them with the hashtag #ObamaFellows, or share the announcement with this link: Obama.org/Fellowship Thanks so much and have a blessed week! @barackobama @michelleobama

MONEY IS ALL ABOUT LEVELS!!! WHICH LEVEL ARE YOU ON? Apart from other influencing factors such as policies and generosity of the employer, here are my 5 major KEY LEVELS that determine how much you get paid anywhere. GET TO KNOW THEM & let's help each other plan on how to upgrade yourself. 01. LABOUR - This is the lowest level and does not require special training. It can be argued as the most painful stage, where you get paid for the calculated manual work that you put in. For instance, carry twenty of 50 Kg bags of cement and you will get paid 50 cents/ bag. 02. EDUCATION / TRAINING - This is a stage where most people look forward to. At this stage, your wages are usually determined by your qualifications not necessarily the labour that you put in. For instance, the same field/ course/ position, where one with a college degree will earn more than one with a diploma even though the one with a diploma might have more "experience." 03. EXPERIENCE - I personally encourage viewing experience as a collective evidential exposure rather than time spent as it is mostly the case. Such that when you add #2 (Education and training) with your experience, you get leverage. For instance, one that has worked in an international organisation or has worked on a new technological system might get a LEG UP even in wages. 04. VALUE - You are more likely to get higher wages if you bring in (high paying) clients, or build an innovative system that might save the company time & money. 05. BRAND - Here your payment is determined by the name/ image you have built over time which creates a demand in the market. This is easily evident in sports, music/ film industry, where one gets paid $5 million per movie not because of the manual work/ education but the demand for their image. When you reach this level, your very presence/ association with a company can easily generate you income. BRINGING IT ALL TOGETHER: BECOME MARKETABLE THROUGH ACCOUNTABILITY & PERSONALITY. Your skills, years of experience, professional degrees alone won’t make you exceptional/ Marketable, you need a good/ relatable personality in this world. - @brocharliz #TeamMaestros #DayJobVsNightJob
“DISABILITY” IS NOT INABILITY – SKYWAY MAESTROS TEAM EMPOWERS CHIKONDI ORPHANAGE AND DISABILITY CENTRE. Skyway University - Maestros Leadership Chapter in Blantyre under the leadership of Aub M'madi Kankota and Zaithwa Favour Bandah visited CHIKONDI orphanage and disability Centre on Thursday 8th March 2018 that is situated in Ndirande Township within Blantyre district. They donated clothes, cosmetics and 200 school materials including exercise books. The self-sponsored Centre has 68 needy children with “different disabilities” ranging from visual, hearing to mobility impairment. Mr. and Mrs. Mussa have been managing this care centre since 2001. The program started with a prayer and beautiful testimonials of how the centre has assisted a number of children with hearing aids and taught others to speak who were unable to. As the children grow older they are trained in vocational skills and many have been taught the art of building and some have secured jobs. Theirs is a word that says “disability is not inability” this word it is really true. We have seen “disabled” people doing greater things. Mrs. Mussa appreciated the work that Skyway Maestros team did, in her words she said “there are few young people who remember that somewhere out there are people who are lacking motivation and she thanked the team for spending their time with them instead of going to drinking joints. She also explained some of the problems the organization is facing. She told us that lack of food and learning resources are the major problems currently. The director who is the husband of Mrs. Mussa and the founder of the organization also appreciated and bless the team. The event was graced by the former chapter coordinator, Twaie Sadieq, firstly she highlighted the aim of the team, in her words she said “Maestros Leadership Team is not a charitable organization but rather is an organization that equips young people with knowledge so as to be independent and take the responsibility of their nations.” She explained how Maestros work in line with the United Nations’ sustainable development goals in this case; the goal is to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education. #TeamMaestros
