πŸ‰ ⁣ ⁣ Finally stocked up on groceries!⁣ ⁣ Working towards reducing our household waste has been an azing process . We still have lots of work to do but we have made some big changes ! ⁣ ⁣ 1st.⁣ We buy everything we can in glass instead of plastic ! ⁣ ⁣ 2nd.⁣ We have started buying more melons and less berries.I have yet to find berries sold without plastic packaging.⁣ ⁣ 3rd.⁣ We buy our eggs in cardboard cartons instead of styrofo.⁣ ⁣ 4th.⁣ All produce is bought and stored in reusable bags.⁣ ⁣ As our journey to zero Waste continues I slowly opening up to reducing our animal products . ⁣ Meat and dairy products seem to produce the most plastic waste ! ⁣ ⁣ Maybe it’s time to learn to make my own yogurt ... ⁣ ⁣ What area of your kitchen produces the most waste ? ⁣ ⁣ πŸ“

I so happy to see this while we were out shopping! A pressed cardboard cooler! β€’ Summer is here and many times people need to use a cooler, BBQs, cookouts, drinks, pool days, lake days, cping ext. but they don’t invest in a reusable cooler (for many reasons) so they buy styrofo ones. So here is a great alternative! β€’ It is a one time or short term use cooler but it’s waaay better than styrofo! It breaks down and can be composter. So for anyone who needs a cooler but who is not wanting to invest in a reusable one. This I feel is the best option I have found so far! This one is @target β€’ We personally use a cooler a lot during the summer time so we invested in a big heavy duty cooler. It is plastic but we have had it for going on 5 years. We had to buy a new one since our first one which made it 4 years was accidentally run over and was not reparable, or we would still have it.

Enjoying a small vacay with @that_e39guy to celebrate our anniversary of 9 years of marriage and 13 years together! πŸ’• some of my low waste essentials for our time away. β€’ Staying @vibspringfield love that they have energy efficient appliances, water smart bathrooms, refillable soap dispensers in the bathroom and offer in room recycling ♻️

Junk in the trunk? Not to me! I just visited a garage sale at my neighbor Carol’s house. She’s in her 70’s and has decided not to do as much canning each year. So, after some neighborly bantering about price, we filled my car (literally) with quart mason jars. When you live zero waste, you just can’t have enough of these! We use them for preserving fruits & veggies, storing dry goods, storing laundry soap.... you name it! Judging by the age of their original boxes, these jars have been performing for at least 50 years. And if I have anything to say about it, I’ll be using them for 50 more. The best part? Getting a chance to visit with my neighbor, and seeing her eyes shine as she talked about her many decades of canning. Zero waste isn’t new. It’s been going on a long time! mom 🌍

I was also out of shampoo and other house items so where do we have to go? @getmosoap of course!!! πŸ’š it’s my little slice of heaven in town. β€’ Filled up on shampoo, stain remover, bar soap, and hand soap. πŸ› I also grabbed a beautiful smoothie straw!
