🐘 ELEPHANT EAR BULBS 🐘 today I decided it was time to dig up my elephant ear and dahlia bulbs! In the fall, tender bulbs should be dug up after the first frost has turned leaf tips black. I am storing these bulbs in a cooler in my basement packed with sand for the winter (after drying them out first)! • • • • • #thehomesickgardener

Are you hoping to start gardening as a hobby in the spring? Maybe you just need to add some color or structure to your garden beds, or maybe you want to plant some bulbs now for beautiful spring blooms! 🌸Your FIRST step is: find your USDA Zone! Finding your zone will tell you what you can and can’t plant, when you can plant it, and whether or not it will come back season after season. For example, I live in Zone 6A, and I select ONLY roses 🌹that are hardy to at least Zone 5! (4 is even better). Have questions? Comment below! 🔽🔽 • • • • • #thehomesickgardener

‘Olympiad’ Rose of the Olympics, 1982. One of the last blooms I will get out of this stunning plant before winter! I love this plant because the canes are super tall and sturdy. It is sure to be a winner in your garden, too! Check out your local gardening center or message me for reputable rose centers where you can place a secure online/phone order for a new rose bush. • • • • • #thehomesickgardener

Bumper crop of late season hot peppers! REMEMBER: wear gloves. Anything you too after handling and cutting these bad boys can transfer super hot oils! As someone who is always rubbing my eyes, this has been a difficult summer 😂🤦‍♀️ • • • • • #thehomesickgardener

Found some bulbs on sale at Menards (my favorite place of all time) and since I had excellent luck with their tulips last year, I decided to plant some more! I wanted to throw in some blue/purple against the red and I think both will really pop in the spring. Hyacinth bulbs are new for me—hoping they look beautiful along the front of our house, but first I need to pick up about 6 more packs! Bulbs are a super cheap and easy way to add spring color to your beds! • • • • • #thehomesickgardener
