“So-called 'sustainable' palm oil has decreased wild orangutan numbers in Borneo to such an extent that the populations are on the edge of extinction. It is not enough to say we won't expand our plantations. Restoration & restitution is what is needed for 'sustainability'.” - Dr Birute Galdikas. Such an important to message to share from Orangutan Foundation International. This situation is critical and we need to act NOW! #SayNoToPalmOil . . . .

Hey @nivea_anz ❗️ #SAYNOTOPALMOIL

Baking our own bread was one of the first steps we took on our journey to low waste living. A simple way for us to avoid plastic packaging and hidden nasties (like palm oil and preservatives). A loaf this size lasts us about three days. We eat it fresh on the first day, and then enjoy it as toast for the remainder of its life. It is a very simple mix of flour, water, salt, sugar and yeast- all of which can be found in compostable or recyclable packaging. 🌿🌿🌿 If you don’t have the time or inclination to bake your own bread, we have found that many bakeries are happy to place a loaf in a cloth/reusable bag. If you have forgotten your own bag, asking for a paper bag instead of plastic is a suitable option- it can be popped in the compost or repurposed once you are done with it ❤️
