University of Mobile's rigorous nursing programs provide you with the knowledge, skills, and critical thinking abilities to know how to handle the life-and-death situations that nurses face every day. Caring for people who are sick and afraid requires more than the ability to give an injection or set up an IV. You’ll see this as you work in hospitals, Alzheimer’s units, psychiatric centers, health departments, physician’s offices and other healthcare settings with a team of professors who have more than 100 years of combined clinical experience. It’s a deep compassion and a Christian commitment to loving people that make our professors – and our graduates – stand out from the crowd. The second priority deadline for many nursing programs is May 15. Apply today! #OnlineDegrees

"In August 2013 I decided to go back to college. I was married, had just given birth to my second child, and living 6 hours away from all my family. I was more determined than ever to finish my degree now that I finally knew what my God-given calling was. "I enrolled at University of Mobile in the Adult Education program. While enrolled I faced many hurdles. My husband was laid off of his job....more than once. My dad passed away suddenly, and I gave birth to TWINS! Life was busy and got busier as time progressed. "I know without a doubt if I chose any other school to attend I would not have been as successful as I was at UM. My professors were so personal and were so invested in me...not just my education, but me as a person. I maintained a 4.0 GPA, made the Dean’s list or President’s List every semester, joined Alpha Chi and Kappa Delta Pi Honor Societies, and graduated Summa Cum Laude! I did it!! I did it while working a full time job, and keeping a house with a husband and four kids. To God be the glory, great things He has done!" - recent UM graduate @lindseyjohns #OnlineDegrees

Do dogs really smile? With April being National Humor month and ACHS hosting a National Herb Day event coming up on May 4th, focusing on herbal care for animals, I thought this question of whether dogs smile was most appropriate. When I’ve heard this question over the years it’s always triggered the same response. I’ve always thought “well of course they do, in their doggie way, because to think that they do not smile is to think that they do not feel joy or happiness.” Whether a dog owner or not, it’s easy to simply look at a dog and see if they are happy, sad, scared, etc. When scared, their ears go back, their tails lower, and they tend to slink down in posture. When they are sad, their eyes tell the story but their ears will also lower and their posture will be more slouched. And, when dogs are happy, you can literally see them grin, maybe in some breeds more than others, but you will also see the pep in their step, their erect posture and their alert and gregarious eyes. I think most people would agree that dogs feel both joy and happiness, and therefore would agree that they have more of a grin on their face than not, when feeling those emotions. However, if you’ve never given it much thought or had the pleasure of seeing a dog smile, go sit on a bench in a dog park or along a busy walking path where people walk their dogs, and take note and delight in the beauty of seeing a dog smile. Once you start seeing this phenomenon you may notice yourself starting to smile back. I invite you, the next time you see a dog smile, to make eye contact with the dog and smile back. You may be surprised the pleasant response you get in return. To learn about accredited online degrees in holistic health and wellness, please visit http://achs.edu #onlinedegrees

"I fell in love with UM after my first visit. I had visited another college previously and thought that it was where I wanted to go. It had a similar world fountain that UM has, but they talked mostly about what a great honor it was that they were gifted the fountain from Germany. "When I was shown the world fountain at UM, I was told about how it represented the great commission and how that concept is integrated into every class and major. I’m very mission based but also think that no matter where you are or career you chose, you have the opportunity to be an evangelist. UM shared this idea with me and caused me to instantly fall in love with the school! Having this desire for Christ and the spread of His Word shows through their students as well as faculty." - UM Student @kate_890 #OnlineDegrees
