JPRestaurants has announced it will guarantee that all our employees receive a minimum amount per hour worked equal to the Jersey Living Wage. Currently this is £10.20 plus statutory entitlements such as holiday pay. This is £2.70 more than the minimum wage and follows our recent "green" initiatives including reduction of plastic and waste recycling. An interesting article on @breakfaston1 this morning, apparently banks charge customers up to $30 to send money overseas 💵 Why? The banking expert explained this is because the computer systems used by the banks are expensive to set up, expensive to run, and expensive to maintain 🖥 . . . Why does this logic not apply in the fashion industry? 🤔 Somehow, human life and skills aren’t seen as expensive to set up, expensive to run, or expensive to maintain. Instead the workers #whomademyclothes are paid minimum wage, or less, to #slave over the clothes we, including the bankers, wear. . . . In the fashion industry over 50% of workers are not paid the minimum wage (2017 Pulse of the Fashion Industry).
