It's week! Tip 4: Have the right tools. To fix an irrigation leak you need the right tools. Since the majority of the irrigation system is buried underground, the most important tool for finding and fixing a leak is a shovel. A pair of channel locks can be used to tighten and/or loosen damaged irrigation components. For the more adventurous type, PVC glue and primer, and a pair of pipe cutters will be needed to repair broken irrigation pipes. Visit http://ow.ly/DbS330j6MsF for more information. week

System leaks vary according to size, location and potential water loss. The Districts records all reported system leaks and responds to those that pose the most damage and water loss first. System leaks are inevitable due to normal wear and tear of water lines, tree roots and changes in temperature. Thank you to the community members who report system leaks and the staff who is ready to respond 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. #FixaLeakWeek

Fix a Leak Week – Leaky Toilets Old or worn-out toilet flappers (e.g., valve seal) can cause leaks. Flappers are inexpensive rubber parts that can build up minerals or decay over time. Replacing them can be a quick and easy fix for your water woes. To fix this leak, consult your local hardware store, home improvement retailer, or licensed plumber. Here are some online resources from WaterSense partners: Tip: Bring the old flapper to the hardware store for comparison to make sure you buy a new flapper that fits your toilet model. You can also check the owner's manual, if you have it, or the manufacturer's website for the appropriate replacement part number for the flapper. https://www.epa.gov/watersense/fix-leak-week #fixaleakweek
