79 Days left until the start of the NFL season and I can hardly contain myself. At number 79 there are a couple of notables to mention. Mike Schad was in the early 90's played well. Brandon Brooks could very easily take over this spot as long as he recovers from his injury and performs as he has in the past. However there is one guy who has over performed everyone else who wore that number. 79 Todd Herremans Todd was the Left and Right Guard with a couple of stints at tackle for 10 seasons compiling 127 games starting 124 of them. He only ever amassed 24 holding penalties during that time and was targeted twice for Touchdowns on Tackle eligible plays. Go Birds!
80 days until the NFL begins their 100th season. Eagles best at #80 isn't very difficult to show, but with as many that put that number on, the only honorable mention, and even that is a little stretch, is James Thrash. 80 Irving Fryar Although only here for 3 seasons, he made quite the impact while here. Here is his line: 48 GP, 2 time Pro Bowl, 222 Rec, 3067 yds, and 19 TD's, good enough to beat out everyone else who wore that number. Go Birds!
81 days to the NFL and we are counting down the best Eagle to wear the number. 81 has allot of honorable mentions. Starting old school with honorable mentions, Kenny Jackson, Gizmo Williams (for the name only), Charles Johnson, and then coming to more recent with Jason Avant and Jordan Matthews all deserve some recognition for this number. BUT there can be only one! 81 Terrell Owens Love him or hate him, he was by far the most charismatic WR to ever don an Eagles uniform. He did so many things that we will remember him for that his Eagles line doesn't give him full justice. Here is his line: 21 GP, 1 time Pro Bowl, 1 time All-Pro, 124 Rec, 1963 yds, and 20 TD's. His play in SB XXXIX was incredible and he likely deserved the pay raise he never got. (Joe Banner sucks!) However, working out on his driveway was pure media gold! Happy Fathers Day to all the men who have bore children and to all the father's who didn't but took care of someone elses. This day is for you! Go Birds!
South Philly is so nostalgic for me. Mom and I had breakfast at an Italian American dive. Dad at the register, mom on the grill & waiting tables, their son making deliveries, and tons of comedy. That’s what it’s all about. #Legacy #Philly #history #culture #EaglesAllDay
With 82 days left before the official start of the NFL season we are counting down the best Eagles to wear the number. #82 is easy! 82 Mike Quick Mike, is arguably, the best WR the Eagles have had in their history. I was at the game he had his 99 yard reception, in OT against the birds from Atlanta. Here is his line: 101 GP, 5 time Pro Bowl, 2 time First Team All-Pro, 363 Rec, 6461 Yards, 61 TD's, and now a good color commentator next to Merrill Reese. I believe he should be in the NFL Hall of Fame, but I don't have a vote. Go Birds!
83 days til the NFL and this number has me in a little bit of a quandary. There is the most famous Eagle to wear this number, and then there is the best. I will share both. Most famous #83 Vince Papale Best #83 Greg Lewis Vince Papale was a great story. He may have been the stepping stone out of the doldrums of Eagles football in the 70's and provided a hometown spark for a team that under-performed quite allot up until that point. Line is not worth showing because it does not tell the story. Greg Lewis doesn't have quite the "movie style" story but he was the best the #83 the Eagles have had at that number. 90 GP, 127 Rec, 1699 yds, and 7 TD's. He also has a TD rec. in Super Bowl XXXIX. Go Birds!
With 84 days to go before the start of the NFL, no one else could fill this number better than The Peoples Champ! Just ask him! 84 Freddie "Fred-X" Mitchell Let me first thank his hands for being so great and making one catch that ultimately put him on this list. 4th and 26 will forever go down as the one play that is not in the playbook. He made that catch, and he was integral during the runs to the Super Bowl from 01 to 04. His final stats end like this: 63 GP, 90 Rec, 1263 Yards and 5 TD's Other 84's are worth mentioning ( Mark Bavaro, Freddie Solomon, Hank Baskett) because one catch does not make a great player, but it does rank as the best for this list. Go Birds!
