‘Black Rock Outlaw Mule’ Uberti Replica of the Remington 1858 'New Model Army' in .44 Caliber customised by Goons Gun Works The 1858 New Army, despite it's name, was not mass produced until 1861, the name originates from the year the patent was created. It became an extremely popular revolver during the American Civil War and large quantities were ordered with the Colt factory fire of 1864 which made it difficult for them to purchase 1851 Navy and 1860 Army revolvers, despite the increased price, the 1858 New Army was widely used and regarded as being very durable. A key feature of the 1858 is it's ability to easily remove it's cylinder which made for easy cleaning as well as ease of reloading with replacing the empty cylinder with a pre-loaded one, this technique of reloading made it popular amongst cavalry troops with it being much easily to carry one 1858 New Army with additional cylinders over multiple Colt 1860's. With metallic cartridges becoming increasingly popular during the 1860's, Remington began to produce converted 1858's that fired these early cartridges. This made the 1858 very popular throughout the taming of the Western Frontier and was still used even with dedicated cartridges revolver like the Colt 1873 SAA and Remington 1875 being produced. This example is a very high quality replica and makes for a great cowboy action revolver or target handgun. Manufacture- @uberti_usa Customised by- @goonsgunworks #defendthesecond
